Jana Korb transforma o romance de Margaret Atwood “Olho de Gato” em um espetáculo solo. Acompanhado de voz e sons de Jennie Zimmermann, com palavras que parecem hipnotizar o público. Uma peça sobre as melhores amigas. Um solo sobre a crueldade “tranquila” e manipulação sutil que é a amizade das meninas – uma reminiscência sobre infância – memórias sem nostalgia. No entanto, “Paper Dolls” é um apelo à amizade! Uma saudade da melhor amiga! Em seu trabalho Jana Korb está à procura de interdisciplinaridade e transcendência nas fronteiras tradicionais. Mescla teatro físico com artes circenses, dança com trapézio e novas mídias. Seu mundo do teatro aéreo é dolorosamente humano, é sobre sonhos pessoais e puras emoções.
Jana Korb é trapezista e performer, artista e produtora do circo contemporâneo e teatro de rua. Além disso, ela luta pela apreciação pública do circo como arte. Ela trabalha artisticamente e como organizadora para a visibilidade das mulheres nas artes cênicas. Juntamente com outros artistas e produtores fundou o Fórum Neuer Zirkus em Berlim, em 2014 – uma plataforma de apresentação de circo artístico em países de língua alemã em grande escala pela primeira vez. O fórum visa reconhecer o Novo Circo como arte dentro da política cultural alemã e financiamento estatal. Em 2016, juntamente com Daniel Megnet, ela fundou a Aerial Arts Festival Berlim – um festival de rede internacional, espetáculos e workshops.
In my work I usually take a feminist perspective – within my art, within my circus worlds, within the scene of German theater in public space. So I closely followed the worldwide #metoo movement. My first reaction, about a year ago, was,
WTF, where do you all live? How did you not know about any of this? I had been trying to raise awareness about these issues for years and years, and all of a sudden, everybody was talking and writing about it. What happened?
But after I saw, what impact this had, especially in the performance and entertainment industry, I was very proud of all the strong women, who had the courage to start this!
After a while many industries started to make their own #metoo statements, and collected testimonials of survivors of sexism in all its forms. So when Swedish circus women began to organize #theshowisover, I took part in it – and will continue to try my best to raise awareness, change structures, and make my worlds happy worlds for everybody!
I create aerial theater and narrative circus – and research extraordinary, forgotten women. So I tell their stories: about the very first grand ladies of circus (Vintage! Women! Variete!); about Kafkas struggling characters (First Sorrow); about a normal, but exceptional, old woman (Frau Vladusch); about a medieval radical anarchist thinker (FernNah); about bestfriends- forever (Paper Dolls); and many more…
